You can do anything if you have the passion, the focus, and the drive. Your passion will lead you right to your purpose. My passion for educating aspiring engineers to fulfil their dreams allowed me to be a teacher in the GATE, AE, and JE categories. These exams are getaways to lucrative opportunities, and I am inclined towards making complex concepts easier, sharing strategies, and educating aspirants towards their career goals. Being a teacher allows me to make a difference by helping students unlock their true potential. Let’s dive into how my journey, from preparing GATE to cracking it, inspired me to start my career as an educator.

Discovering my true self

My motivation to be a teacher dates back to when I was in 11th grade. My coaching teacher could not catch students up academically, leaving us unprepared for the exam. This situation pushed me to step up. I thoroughly studied and completed my syllabus first. Thereafter, I took the initiative to teach other students as well and helped them with their queries and challenges they were facing. This clarified my concepts and helped me realize my passion for teaching.

Teaching students while pursuing a degree

My passion for learning changed my curiosity into a genuine interest and I became more invested. As a result, I excelled in 12th grade. Considering my journey from school to college as an important benchmark in my life, I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. While emphasizing a strong understanding of concepts through strategic learning, I simultaneously started guiding IIT-JEE students. It allowed me to dive deeper into my favorite subjects while giving me a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. It was quite fascinating to witness a student grasp a new concept. Nothing beats knowing that the success of the students is credited to your hard work.

Aspiring for the GATE exam

Although teaching IIT-JEE students was a pleasure, I had to quit midway due to my final exams. After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I was offered jobs by two companies through campus placement. However, I aspired to have a career at PSU as it promises a rewarding path for those seeking government jobs. As GATE is counted as one of the most prestigious getaways to seek PSU recruitment, I decided to crack the exam. For that, I had to get my parents on board to give me some time to prepare for the GATE exam.

Motivated to make a career

After failing on my first attempt, I pulled myself together with more enthusiasm and started preparing for the exam again. I came up with a more effective strategic plan. I followed all the tips and tricks to improve my exam writing strategy and this time I did it and got a chance to go for M.Tech in IITs.

Lookout for a job

After I scored a good score on my second attempt, I managed to secure admission to the MTech course at IIT.  As I had already invested my two years in preparing for the GATE exam and finding a good rank, I wanted to start a job as soon as possible. Driven by the wish to make a difference in the lives of students and encourage their passions, teaching was always a part of my plan.

A YouTube notification changed my life

As they say, “Follow your desires, and your passion will pave your way”. This proved true for me when I grabbed the opportunity to leverage online learning through a notification from a YouTube channel. Offering me a breakthrough, this channel invited me to reach out to the aspirants online and showcase my skills and knowledge. I immediately recorded two demo lectures to connect with the students through my teaching. The students embraced my teaching style gracefully. Discovering this channel was one of the biggest blessings in my online teaching journey.

Multiple job opportunities

My online teaching career took off when I was offered back-to-back job opportunities. In 2019 and 2020, I went on to work with two institutes, creating educational content in the Mechanical Engineering department. This experience, in turn, set a new course for me.

COVID and the boom in online teaching

As COVID-19 led to the closure of colleges and schools, the world of learning took a giant leap, making online teaching jobs more popular than ever. The best part was that the changes COVID has caused would be here to stay. The prior knowledge of the intricacies of online teaching through good content allowed me to blend skills with my teaching method, creating a wide influence and reach. A good GATE score was a major plus in enhancing my prospects of securing online teaching jobs.

Shared knowledge through captivating content

Right after, I got an offer from a reputed edutech company to demonstrate my educational videos online. This company helped me to jump on the bandwagon of online teaching and the rest, as they say, is history. I worked on improving the quality of the content I delivered for GATE, AE, and JE aspirants based on their feedback. In return, the respect and appreciation that I had earned amazed me.

My teaching style bears testimony to my determination and expertise. Realizing the importance of motivating students to do their best, I worked on my approach to help them deal with the stress effectively.

Strive to make a difference

Always striving for perfection, I made the best of my efforts to make a difference in the way the knowledge was shared. After dedicating a year to grasping new concepts and improving my skill set, I worked with two leading edtech organizations consecutively. Here, I worked on developing compelling video content and sharing it with students to help them crack exams.

My commitment to teaching

From earning a Bachelor’s degree to cracking the GATE exam to completing five years as an online educator, my journey has proved that you can have it all. Nothing beats that feeling of pride when your hard work pays off and all the students you taught get selected. My passion for teaching allowed me to go above and beyond what was required to help students learn.

Securing a job at MADE EASY

Other edtech companies actively pursued me to showcase my value in online teaching. Consequently, I secured a job as MADE EASY’s faculty and media content head. Through this company, I unlocked a world full of fulfillment, and growth, making a meaningful impact in academics and media. I emphasized creating captivating content, driving strategies, and leading teams here.

To Wrap Up

In summary, the roller coaster of my professional journey taught me to hold valuable insights firmly while overcoming challenges. The joy and satisfaction of passionately admiring my teaching job also allowed me to grow and evolve.

I gathered in-depth insights and moved forward with more clarity and purpose at every opportunity. It’s worth noting that my professional journey has always been a series of new beginnings, making me stronger. Additionally, I am still learning and will continue to learn throughout my life.

My life, in a nutshell, reflects my acceptance of embracing every opportunity that came my way with wide arms. My experiences have shaped me into the person that I am today. Things seldom work out as planned, so don’t discount yourself if you can’t achieve your goal. In the end, you will get what you deserve. Just keep putting in your best efforts.
